Salisbury Public Library

Shadley Associates recently worked with the Design Partnership of Cambridge on a new Public Library in Salisbury, Massachusetts.  The project replaced the existing library with a state-of-the-art building, which is certified LEED Gold.  The new library conforms with the shingle-style architecture typical of the New England coast while the site plan integrates the library with its surroundings along Salisbury’s town green, incorporating elements and materials that speak to the vernacular landscape of the region.  The site plan incorporates vehicular circulation, hybrid parking, pedestrian access and circulation, and native planting.  There is an outdoor reading room for children and ample bicycle parking.  The site lighting is full cutoff, down lights to minimize impacts to the night sky.
