Shadley Associates provided site planning and landscape architectural services to Gensler on the DCAM (Division of Capital Asset Management) renovation of Greenfield Community College’s central building complex. The site design created a major new open space where previously, due to extreme topography, the campus had none. The project also created a strong pedestrian promenade that organizes movement and a path for universal access to the Student Center. A new plaza and several seating areas offer a wide range of outdoor dining and gathering opportunities. Construction of the project was recently completed and the project won a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Architectural Access Board and Boston Society of Architects’ Honor Award for Accessible Design in Public Architecture.
